Conformation classes are open and free to all purebred intact (not spayed or neutered) dogs, conformation classes are held on the second and fourth wednesdays of the month. Classes practice the skills to perform in the show ring. The dogs and their handlers learn to present the dog's best physical qualities to a judge. This is done by arranging the dog in the traditional pose for its breed so that the judge can do a hands on examination of the dog. Then the dog and handler move at a smooth pace (a trot) in a pattern around the show ring. The judge can then evaluate the dog's physical conformation while moving. The practice helps the handler present their dog in the best possible way and helps the dog get used to the physical examination.
